Holiday Road Racing Season is Here

This time of year there are tons of fun holiday themed road races with everything from Santa to Jingle Bell runs.  Themed races are a fun way to stay active and get into the holiday spirit during the colder months.  This year, we are planning on running the 12 K’s of Christmas and there will surely be lots of runners in costume.  A 12K race requires a bit of training on our part, and with all of the holiday eating this time of year, it is nice to have something to train for.  We haven’t decided on my costume for the race, but it will definitely have red and green.  What races are you doing?  Will you be dressing up?

Have fun!

Running to the Finish of XC Season

The end of Cross Country season is in sight with most teams having only a few weeks left to race.  There will surely be many personal records in the upcoming weeks and we hope everyone has a great end to the season.

We've talked to many coaches and athletes this season and it's been fun hearing about everyone's favorite courses.  Not surprisingly, very few love really hilly courses =)

What is your favorite type of course or run?

Cross Country Invites Rule!

This past weekend we attended the annual Bellevue XC Invitational at Lake Sammamish State Park.  It was a beautiful fall day, and a superbly run meet meet with over 30 school and around 1200 athletes.

We talked to a ton of runners throughout the day, and it was so fun hearing how many of them ran personal records.  That's something we absolutely love about the sport.  It doesn't matter what place you come in.  You can come in last and still set a PR!  The kids were so proud with some of them running their fastest time ever by a few seconds and others by a few minutes.

We are looking forward to the rest of the season with many more personal records to come.

Happy running!

Ready to Hit the Pavement

With summer coming to an end we are excited about fall runs, especially with cross country season upon us.  There is nothing better than a run to take in the beauty of the changing leaves and weather.  We are very much looking forward to seeing some of the high school and college cross country teams compete this season.  Let us know your favorite course to run!

Ready for Cross Country

Cross country season is upon us.  Teams have officially begun practice, and runners mileage is starting to build.  Spikease was at Road Runner Sports and Super Jock n Jill this past week for team nights where teams were being fit for new running shoes and cross country spikes.  It has been fun watching the returning and seasoned runners and the newbies come together as teams.

Spikease will be at a few more team nights in the next month, so we may see you out and about.

Happy running!

Fun All Comers Track Meets

We were happy to attend one of the summer's last Club Northwest All Comers Track Meets last week.  The meets are always a blast, but this one was especially fun to watch with an elite 800 and 1500, as well as witnessing a firefighter competing in full firefighting gear in the 1500.  Very impressive!  With summer track and field winding down, we are looking forward to Cross Country season just around the corner.

Summertime Track & Field = Happiness

This summer we have been lucky enough to attend quite a few track meets in mostly picture perfect, sunny weather.  It has been an absolute joy to watch the youngsters at USATF Junior Olympic meets, athlete's up into their 80's competing in Master's competitions, and one of our favorites, All-Comers meets welcoming all ages and abilities.

Watching youngsters at their first track meet and the pure exhilaration and happiness on their faces is priceless.  Just as priceless is watching Master's athlete's still enjoying competition.  It is absolutely inspiring to watch athlete's of all ages enjoying the sport we love, track and field!
